2-Methoxyidazoxan monohydrochloride (RX821002 hydrochloride) is a highly selective alpha 2-adrenoceptor antagonist with little or no imidazoline antagonist effect. RX 821002 has markedly higher affinity for (guinea-pig) alpha 2D-adrenoceptors (pK d 9.7) than for (rabbit) alpha 2A-adrenoceptors (pK d 8.2) [1] [2] .
2-Methoxyidazoxan monohydrochloride (1 mg/kg) enhances locomotion in the novel environment, particularly in neonatal ventral hippocampal lesion (NVHL) rats. RX82100 has a biphasic effect on locomotion, consisting of an initial reduction preceding the enhancement [3] .
MCE has not independently confirmed the accuracy of these methods. They are for reference only.
