Bencianol is a the semisynthetic flavinoid, with anti-spasmogenic activities.
Bencianol causes a dose-related (1-100 μg/mL) reversal of contractions induced by 5-hydroxytryptamine, nor-adrenaline, angiotensin II, prostaglandin F2a, and U-46619 (a thromboxane-A2 mimetic). Bencianol is more effective against contractions induced by EC 50 compared to maximal concentrations of each agent, and is least effective against the thromboxane-A2 mimetic, U-46619 [1] . Bencianol (0.1-100 nM) produces cytoprotective effects against CCl4 induced cell injury on the above three parameters [2] .
